California Community Colleges With Surplus or Unused Equipment Can Greatly Assist Other Colleges Seeking Equipment for CTE Training Programs
| California Community College administrators, faculty, and staff have an opportunity to assist other colleges if they consider making surplus or unused equipment available to other colleges prior to selling it at auction or on the open market. Many colleges across the state are experiencing serious funding issues related to the purchase of equipment necessary in Career Technical Education training programs. Colleges that are in the process of closing programs, or who find they have surplus equipment would greatly assist other colleges who are seeking similar equipment if they would make it available prior to selling it at a greatly reduced price.
A mechanism that colleges could use in advising other colleges across the state of the availability of surplus or otherwise available equipment currently exists in the form of a web based virtual equipment depository and clearinghouse. The California Technology Education Resource Center has developed this website, and the site is administered by The Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) CTE hub, located at the City College of San Francisco. To access this equipment clearinghouse go to: www.CaliforniaTechEdResources.org and on the left margin of the home page look under Classroom Materials, then click on Equipment Swap. |
